How scoring works
The same for everyone
Every matchday has seven questions, the same for every player, with 25 seconds each. The server runs the clock. When the first player kicks off, the matchday's questions and every answer's tier are frozen, so everyone that day is scored identically.
Points
| Tier | Points | Fans |
|---|---|---|
| Tap-in | 10 | 1,000 |
| Showboat | 15 | 1,500 |
| Volley | 30 | 3,000 |
| Screamer | 60 | 6,000 |
| Worldie | 85 | 8,500 |
| Top Bins | 100 | 10,000 |
A perfect matchday is 700 points, or 70,000 fans. Wrong guesses cost nothing. Your first correct answer in a round is the one that counts.
How tiers are chosen
- Editors set every tier using their judgement of how well known each answer is.
- Player data can suggest changes. Once enough signed-in players have answered a question in ranked matchdays, we look at how often each answer is given. Common answers are suggested for lower tiers and rarely given ones for higher tiers. An answer our editors thought was rare but that lots of players give is suggested as a Showboat.
- A person approves every change. Suggestions don't change any score on their own, and approved changes only apply to future matchdays.
- Top Bins is always an editorial pick: one answer per question that we hope someone finds. Data can suggest demoting it but never picks it.
- Only completed ranked games count towards these statistics, and accounts flagged for cheating are excluded.
No chance, no prizes
Scores depend only on your answers. There's no random element in scoring, nothing to win, and no way to pay for an advantage. Premium and shop items never affect scores.
Disputes
If you give a correct answer that isn't on our list, you can dispute it after the round. If a reviewer agrees, the answer is added and every round where someone gave it is re-scored; each round keeps the higher of its two scores.
